Google Search Console Add new video Performance Report Oct-2019

Now a days Video is the medium which has used a lot in every communication. If we go training, services, product review etc in all we have video on priority. As per time communication mode has changed for example, in search engine first started with content then images then audio and video.



Now Video is the most effective way to communicate now a day, So Google search console has decided to show the video performance report in search console tool, this will help us to know exact performance about our video.

Below are the stats which we can see now in Google search console for video.

  1. Clicks
  2. Impression
  3. Pages
  4. Devices
  5. Countries etc

Apart from it you can customized report and able to extract multiple meaningful data from search console for video.

How our video will come in Google Search Result?

It is a very good question for which I am trying to give answer here. If we want that our video should be there in google search console while users are searching a related keyword to our video, so you need to implement schema there for your video.

If you have implemented schema for video and some error, there than this also will replicate there in search console as per below screenshot. For more detail please see below URL

You need to implement schema in the format as suggested by schema.org. I am sharing some major schema points which you can use to implement schema for Video

  1. Video must be publicly available without any subscription
  2. Video segment data must be added on page where user can watch the video
  3. Video duration must be more than 30 seconds
  4. Video must have VideoObject structure data
  5. Video must have ability to deep link some other than the start points

In addition to VideoObject, you can add the following two data types to enable video enhancement in Google Search

  • Item List
  • Clip

Below are the major required properties for schema

  • Description
  • Name
  • Thumbnailurl
  • Upload Date

Once you will implement all schema required and suggested then your video will start to showing in google, you are able to see your videos stats in search console as per below screen.

How to use Google Search Console?

What is Google Search Console?

Google Search Console (GSC) formerly known as Google webmaster tool is a free platform where you can monitor your website, how google views it and optimize to increase the organic presence.



It includes majorly-

Ø   Referring Domains

Ø   Schema Structure

Ø   Query

Ø   Pages

Ø  Mobile site Performance etc.

I will share some guide here as well which include

Ø  Adding your website and Domain

Ø  User Permission

Adding your Website and Domain in Search console- You can use all variation of your website in search console, recently search console update to add a domain along with all variation. So if you will add a domain then it will include data for all variation of that domain.

Below are the steps which you can use to add your website in search console:-

Step- 1 Login in Search console with your professional ID and then click on add Property as per below screenshot

You can add domain as well as URL Prefix, in case of domain adding you need to verify with DNS and you will see the below one

When you will add variation of your domain i.e. www.example.com then you will see below screen

Methods to verify your site in Google Search console:

In case of domain verification you need to add code in DNS record which should be done at server level by team.

Apart from this if you are verifying domain variation linke www.example.com then you can use below method for verification.

HTML Tag – Add a meta tag to your site’s home page as per below instruction

  1. Copythe meta tag below, and paste it into your site’s home page. It should go in the <head> section, before the first <body> section.<meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”kRGyjcY3HrQLeRFqEvNHMHzwFOe18VHphLqsFR18gXY”
  1. Click Verifybelow.

To stay verified, don’t remove the meta tag, even after verification succeeds.

Google Analytics – Use your Google Analytics account

  1. You must be using thegtag.js tracking code.
  2. Your tracking code should be in the<head>section of your page.
  3. You must have the “edit” permission for the Google Analytics property.

The Google Analytics tracking code is used only to verify site ownership. No Google Analytics data will be accessed.

Google Tag Manager – Use your Google Tag Manager account

  1. You must be using thecontainer snippet.
  2. You must have the “manage” permission for the Tag Manager container.

The Google Tag Manager container ID is used only to verify site ownership. No Google Tag Manager data will be accessed.

Domain name provider – Associate a DNS record with Google

  1. Sign in to your domain name provider (e.g. godaddy.comor namecheap.com)
  2. Copy the TXT record below into the DNS configuration for example.com

  1. Press verifybelow

Note: DNS changes may take some time to apply. If Search Console doesn’t find the record immediately, wait a day and then try to verify again

User Permission-

You can share Google search console access for any user which is registered with Google. When you will click on add user you will see two option there

Ø  Full

Ø  Restricted

You need to use email address and click on add.

XML Sitemap submission-

For better understanding you should prepare your xml sitemap and submit it in Google search console. You need to use below step to submit your xml sitemap in search console

Step-1 Login to GSC

Step-2 click on Sitemap and you will see below screen

Once you will click on submit you will see the status of submission and all status for all url which has mentioned in Search console.

You can check here all error can take a step ahead to resolve them.

Adding Filters – You can use different-2 filters to check your data. See below screen where you can filter data

Step to use of Google Search Console – I am sharing some reports which you can use to see the website performance in Google.

Ø  Identify the pages which generate highest traffic

Ø  Top 10 CTR Queries

Ø  What is your average CTR?

Ø  Overall impression

Ø  Average position for your search queries

Ø  Sire performance for devices (Desktop, Mobile & Tablet)

Ø  Countries from we are getting highest traffic

Ø  Number of pages index

Ø  No if errors pages and type of error

Ø  Check which page has not index and reason for the same

Ø  Check is there any mobile usability issue

Ø  Number of total backlinks

Ø  Identify top 5 sites which link you most

Ø  Top 10 most popular anchor links for external links

Ø  Pages have most internal linking

Ø  Number of internal links your website have

Ø  Schema Error (if any)

Ø  Check if there is any manual action for your website

Ø  Check is there any security issue for your website

Now Google Search Console Shows Google Selected Canonical URLs

We have seen as of now that we provide tag for canonical URL and tells Google which is the original page and which one is duplicate. Now Google has updated the algorithm and now Google will decide the right canonical URL.

So we can say this is good news for all webmaster because now we will get rid of duplicate pages without any effort while we have those pages on our website.




So there are two major points:-

  •  You can check which URL considered canonical URL
  • If you think this is not correct you can make the changes by following some steps

First I will tell you how you can see the canonical URL-

You need to login in search console and open URL inspection tool as per below screen.

Now you need to enter the URL for which you want check that which URL has considered by Google as canonical URL.

As per below screen url is correct, now i am sharing a screen where Google search console has considered different canonical url, see below screen of search console

Hope now it is clear how Google consider right canonical url, still if you think this is not correct you can request to google to consider the right one.

If Google has not selected right canonical url then you can change it by following the steps on duplicate URLS



Google Announce Domain-wide data in Search Console – Come4seo

What is Google Search Console?

I have earlier share some post relates to Search console, again I am sharing some latest information about search console. So small introduction about search console is


“Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools) is a free web-basedSEO tool for webmasters to track both the indexing and crawling stats from Googlebot while also providing metrics to help optimize a website for organic visibility”

What is Domain wide data and why need to aggregate it?

We know better in last couple of years Google search console recommend to verify all variation of domain for example:-

https://gyan-badhao.com

http://www.gyan-badhao.com

gyan-badhao.com

www.gyanbadhao.com etc

In this scenario we are unable to analysis data for all variation on a single platform. We should visit all variation than manually collect data and then analysis it.

To overcome this problem Google search console announce the Domain-wide data. If you website already verified with Search Console than also you need to again verify it with DNS.

How to verify domain ownership via DNS record?

Today I am sharing all steps which you need to follow to verify your domain with DNS.




Open Search Console and login with your ID password. Once you login click on Add Property, you will get below screen:-

Now you need to add your domain name so I will add gyan-badhao.com and will get next screen as below

Now you need to update TXT record in DNS Configuration. So there are two things which will happen

  1. IF domain and hosting with same company than you can edit it from domain panel
  2. If you have different company for domain registration and hosting then you need to change it from hosting panel

In my case here I am using the same company for both so now you need to login with Domain registration panel. I am managing it with Godaddy so you will get below screen

Now you will click on ADD button and you will see the below screen

Once you will click on select you will see below option there

Now you will choose TXT and add the code which you will get from search console and you will see below screen

Save this information and verify the same on search console.

If your DNX setting not working well then you will get below screen

If it will verify then you will see below screen and data will start to capture in Search Console.



In few minutes you will get below screen.





Once all completed you will see a pop up like this to start aggregating your data. Click start.

Google Search Console–New URL Inspection Tool-Uses & Benefits

Couple of month Ago Google has introduced a new search console tool. Now Google team has worked on this tool further and added a new tool i.e. URL INSPECTION TOOL.

This tool will help webmasters to know the insight for a specific URL, how Google index the specific page. Google said with the help of this tool you can easily know information about crawling, indexing, AMP and data structure status for a specific url.




Still this option is not available for all search console account, this is in beta version. When it will live than you can directly past your URL which is index in Google and this tool will provide all information related to this URL as below:

Below screen will help you to understand what you will get once you will put your URL in this tool:-

Now there will be another case where your URL will show some error due to structure schema or AMP etc. Below is the screen which will help you to understand this:-

Still I am unable to see this in my account, but Google announced will live it today or in couple of weeks for all search console account.

Google invited some users for New Search Console (Index Status) Beta Version

I have observed that 1st week of September Google has added a link of new beta version of search console for some account owner.

It has been added automatically so may or may not be you are invited. If you are invited for this than first you will see a message in your search console account as below.

New Search Console Message Format

When you will click on view details than you will get a screens as below.

After it if you will see you dashboard of search console and then will open an account for which you are invited will see below type of link there in search console.

As per above screenshot you are seeing that there is green highlighted link which will goes for new search console. So once you click on this link you will get a below screen.

So as per above given screen you are seeing a trending graph along with a link below for full report. So further for more information I am clicking on full report. Below you will see the next screen once you will click on full report.



Once I will click on full report I got a below screen with following feature:-

  1. Top right you are seeing status button, once you will click on this you will reach on main dashboard.
  2. Below status button one more option is there that is UPDATE GOOGLE.

Now I am going to click on UPDATE GOOGLE. Once I click on this I have seen a different screen to submit my latest xml sitemap. Below is the screen.

Apart from it setting button still not enable in beta version. So now I am going to discuss more about the screen where we will see different-2 type of URL with reason why they are index or not?

So there are below 4 main section.

  1. Valid Pages
  2. Pages with Warning
  3. Pages with Errors
  4. Excluded

Above information you can see in Search console as per below screen.

Now if you want you can elaborate further these four category as per below screenshot. In this way you are able to know below things with the help of this upcoming feature of Google.

  1. You are able to know the valid pages URL which are index in Google.
  2. You are able to know the pages URL which have error or warning due to which crawler not able to crawl that them and reason they are not index in Google.
  3. You are able to know the URL which has excluded with reason so you can resolve the problem and able to index those all URL in search engine.

So definitely you are able to increase indexing in Google.
